Get Involved in AYCC International

Apply to be part of the AYCC International team for 2011

Why be part of AYCC International?

By joining the International team, you’ll be a part of building a youth climate movement that reaches into every corner of the globe – and you’ll get to connect with some of the most inspiring young people on the planet while you do.

This year AYCC’s International team will be different to previous years – instead of primarily focusing on the UN climate negotiations at the end of the year, team members will be involved in implementing our international projects throughout the year. Team members will have the opportunity to travel to Durban in December for the COP17 and Conference of Youth, but this won’t necessarily be required.

Some of the projects the International team will be working on include:

  • A online toolkit and resource hub for youth climate coalitions
  • An online platform to support effective communication and collaboration
  • A volunteer exchange program between youth climate coalitions
  • The Conference of Youth, a three-day event held in the lead-up to the UN climate conference in Durban in December

If you have other ideas for projects, then we would love to hear them! Just shoot Lucy an email at lucy.manne@youthclimatecoalition.org

Who should apply?

The only pre-requisite for joining the International team is a passion for movement building, an interest in connecting with young climate advocates from around the world, and great communication skills. There will be a range of different roles, and the projects we undertake will evolve based on the skills and interests of team members.

If you do have particular skills that are relevant to the projects listed above (such as web design, facilitation and training, research, fundraising, or event planning), let us know in your application.

Time and financial commitment

To be a part of AYCC’s International team, you need to be able to commit to at least eight hours per week between June and December, as well as fundraising to support your trip to Durban if you intend on traveling there.

There will also be two weekend strategy retreats that will require interstate travel for team members outside Melbourne or Sydney – one in July (after uni exams!) and one in October.

All team members will be supported to fundraise, and financial need should not prevent anyone from being part of the AYCC International team.

How to apply
