Climate Reality Week starts in on May 2nd.
That means you have one week to get your friends together, think of an amazing idea, and then go do it. Know any friends who can write sky letters with a plane? The competition is our way of fighting back at the misinformation and spin that ideologically motivated pundits and fossil-fuel industry ‘experts’ spew out onto the airwaves every day. Know how to choreograph a giant flash-dance? Nobody said solving global warming was going to be easy – some people like Bill McKibbon have been working on it for 20 years – and it certainly isn’t going to be solved by taking the path of least resistance. Think you can write an op-ed in the nation’s largest papers? Young people aren’t limited to a short-sighted politics where our voices aren’t represented and real solutions aren’t discussed. Know a band that will give you the mic at their next concert for a minute? When we say ‘climate reality’ we are being brave and choosing a more difficult but ultimately more healthy and safe future. When we say ‘The Climate is Changing, We Can’t Escape Reality’, we mean it. Lets face reality. From May 2nd to May 9th, how many people will you help to face the climate reality?
