Just wanted to give a quick update about what happened on Monday in Canberra with the White Paper. We had an amazing team down in Canberra – led by our amazing Power Shift organisers Jess, Daniel & Amy – plus a whole bunch of other people who came down to help out, including Ben, Alex and the UNYA people. We had an action outside the front of the national Press Club as the Prime Minister and all the journalists were walking inside, and then a press conference on the lawns of Parliament House. I spoke in the Press line up and got on the 7.30 report, along with footage from the protest.
Obviously, the targets were ridiculously low – 5% by 2020. You can read our analysis here and here. AYCC is organising actions outside all the CPRS Public Forums this week – had one in Sydney today, and one is happening in Brisbane tomorrow. Jess and I have been doing so many radio interviews and trying to get the word out as far and wide as possible.
