Arrival at AYCC Office (Sydney)

Hi everyone,
Sasha Hunt here, currently in the AYCC office which is incredibly exciting. It’s inspiring to be with so many people who are so utterly committed to doing whatever they can, and more, to ensure a sustainable future. And of course they’re all friendly and amaaaazing as well. I’m absolutely thrilled about the Walk Against Warming Rally this Saturday, where I’ll be speaking, when I get my speech written ha. But really, there is nothing I enjoy more than a gathering of a fine bunch of committed people on a sunny day in Sydney, or anywhere for that matter. And this crowd promises to be much larger than our comparatively wee gatherings in my home town Lismore.
The most exciting thing about being down here (after just finally finishing my HSC, hooray!) is the incredible sense of optimism all these people have. I don’t believe I’ve ever been with a cheerier bunch of people, and even after (or especially after, depending on your perspective) a 12 hour train trip, the sense of optimism is great.
I cant wait to be more involved in the coalition in my deferment year before university, I really do think these community like youth organisations are and will be a substantial contributor to our success in creating a sustainable future. The focus on linking people together and really developing those connections I see as absolutely fundamental.
So I hope to see every one of you this Saturday.
